Emilia Clarke is feeling the power of HBO’s Game of Thrones as the UK actress enters talks to play the female lead in Antonio Negret’s Overdrive, which was written by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the word-masters behind Wanted and 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen on Season 1 of Game of Thrones, has a resume that’s not exactly overflowing with previous work, but everyone has to start somewhere and Thrones isn’t a bad launch-pad to use when getting the attention of studios. Overdrive sounds like it will be a decent follow-up punch, letting Clarke rub shoulders with a couple of guys that have their own experiences working in popular franchises. While Clarke is still in negotiations, Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd) and Ben Barnes (Chronicles of Narnia) have already signed on for the film that revolves around two brothers that steal cars in the south of France.

There are no details at this time about the role Clarke is being considered for, but as a female lead, we’re probably looking at the slightly clichéd premise of her being the girl in love with both brothers. Of course, she could just as easily be the boss of the car-theft ring. Wouldn’t that be an original twist?

Filming is expected to begin on Overdrive on October 29th in Marseilles so I’d say Clarke is probably guaranteed the role unless the studio already has a back-up on stand-by.

I am super excited about this and a huge congrats to Emilia on getting the role!

A little therapy for Game of Thrones fans sliding into withdrawal after the massive season finale last month: EW grabbed showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff and cast members Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Heady, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Kit Harrington, for a video chat at the VIP Comic-Con lounge on Thursday. Click the jump to watch EW’s Tim Stack talk to Weiss and Benioff about their geeky interests and EW’s Darren Franich talk to the cast about season 2 and lavish wigs.

This is turning out to be our lucky week fellow Emilia fans! Our girl stepped out once again today, at a Photocall for “Game of Thrones” during the Monte Carlo TV festival. Em wore a gorgeous white skirt, with a red top and matching lipstick – and she looked jaw-droppingly stunning! I have added a total of 18 photos so far, but I hope to have a lot of new additions for you all tommorow.

I have also added 13 super pretty and crispy-clear HQ images from last nights event, as well as bucketloads of medium quality additions. This is easily my favorite look of Emilias – that dress is dazzling! Enjoy all the new photos, and stay tuned for more updates over the weekend….
