THE WRAP – Actress Emilia Clarke, entrepreneur Shivani Siroya and Russian journalist Anna Nemtsova will join TheWrap’s Power Women Breakfast in Los Angeles as featured speakers at the seventh annual event.

Clarke, who plays Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, on HBO’s hit fantasy series “Game of Thrones,” has garnered the attention of worldwide audiences for her masterful performances and intriguing beauty. Clarke recently received her second Primetime Emmy nomination for her portrayal.

In addition to the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones,” Clarke will also star next year in “Me Before You,” the screen adaptation of the Jojo Moyes best-selling novel, from New Line and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, to be released by Warner Bros. on June 3, 2016.

Clarke was last seen as Sarah Connor in Alan Taylor‘s “Terminator: Genisys,” a reboot of the popular franchise, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney. She also received Emmy and Critics Choice Television Awards nominations for the role in 2013. In 2013, Clarke made her Broadway debut as Holly Golightly in the stage adaptation of Truman Capote’s classic 1958 novella, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Clarke was just named Esquire’s 2015 Sexiest Woman Alive.

Clarke will be joined by an eclectic group of inspiring speakers, including Shivani Siroya, CEO and Founder of InVenture Mobile, and a panel featuring the 2015 IWMF Courage in Journalism award winners, Mwape Kumwenda, of Muvi Television in Zambia; Anna Nemtsova, Moscow-based correspondent for The Daily Beast and Newsweek; and Honduran freelance journalist Lourdes Ramírez.

The breakfast on October 28th will be hosted by TheWrap’s CEO and Editor-in-Chief Sharon Waxman and SVP of Industry Alliances of Box and Founder of Box.org Karen Appleton. There will be a charity auction for the International Women’s Media Foundation. (source)

Emilia was among those who hit the phones at 2015 BGC Global Charity Day held at BGC Partners yesterday (September 11) in London. Every year, BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, commemorate the 658 Cantor and the 61 Eurobrokers employees who perished on September 11, 2001 by distributing 100% of their global revenues on Charity Day to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and dozens of charities around the world. Some pictures from her appearance have been added to the gallery, and she looks great and smiley as always :)

Emilia spoke with the Los Angeles Time about her Emmy’s nomination:

I was, hilariously, I was at the doctor’s waiting to go in [when I found out I was nominated]. It was a very embarrassing moment. There’s a lovely British girl waiting in the doctor’s office, and you’ve got the best news ever, and you’re very excited and a bit loud on the phone. All you want to do is just scream and shout, and you have all these people glaring at you thinking, ‘What is that woman on?’ So, yeah, I had to try and contain my excitement for that moment. But it was pretty brilliant nonetheless.

RADIO TIMES – There’s much excitement in TV drama circles about ITV’s lavish eight-part drama Victoria charting the early life of the great Monarch.

But who to play her?

RadioTimes.com can reveal that ITV is aiming high and has a list of possibles which is big on the glam stakes for the Daisy Goodwin-scripted spectacular which starts filming in the autumn for broadcast next year.

Casting folk are sizing up Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Mother of Dragons’ Daenerys Targaryen) as well as Downton’s Lady Rose herself, the actress Lily James.

Model/actress Cara Delevingne is another contender and, if that’s not enough, actress, model and Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz is also being considered.

Last but not least on the list is Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman who, if tabloid reports about her friendship with Prince Harry are to be believed, could one day become proper royalty herself….

Made by the production company behind Poldark, Mammoth Screen, the drama will imagine Britain’s longest reigning monarch “who leaves childhood behind when she ascends the throne at the tender age of 18.”

Said Goodwin: “I’ve been fascinated by Victoria since I started reading her diaries at university. She’s a woman whose personality leaps off the page – a tiny 4 foot 11 teenager who overnight became the most powerful woman in the world, and her candour and spirit makes for an irresistible heroine. Victoria was the first woman to have it all; she had a passionate marriage, nine children and was grandmother to most of Europe’s royalty, but she also had a job, being queen of the most important nation in the world. It wasn’t easy; her reign was beset by scandal and sleaze and it was only by sheer force of personality that she prevailed. Her diaries, all 62 million words of them, give an astonishingly vivid picture of her transformation from rebellious teenager into, to my mind, our greatest queen.”

Victoria will be the screenwriting debut for the novelist who has published historical novels My Last Duchess and The Fortune Hunter.

Filming will start in September. (source)
