USA TODAY – Call her the Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, and undisputed Queen of Pranks.

Yes, Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke is a notoriously crafty prankster, according to her Me Before You co-star Sam Claflin. Filming the tearful romance last year, her most memorable hijinks included a remote-controlled fart machine, which she would casually unleash on unsuspecting cast and crew. She also framed Claflin for “stealing” her Daenerys doll, by planting it in his bag and plastering the U.K. set with mock-up “wanted” posters.

But as a self-described clean freak, the British actor says the worst prank may have been when Clarke put fish in his socks. Claflin tells USA TODAY:

“They were brand new socks. I had worn them for only three minutes in the morning — like, literally to get from my house to work. I took them off to get into my costume and they stayed in my trailer until the very end of the day. … I don’t really like fish. It’s not my favorite smell or anybody’s. I just remember as I picked up my socks, I was like, ‘That feels odd.’ So I pulled them apart and went to put one (foot) in, and I fully gagged. I was like, ‘What?’ “

Afterward, “he made me feel so bad, oh, my God,” Clarke says. “But then I bought him three pairs of really nice socks.”

But she didn’t get off that easy: Claflin also had his share of fun at Clarke’s expense.

“I stole all her furniture, which was pretty epic,” Claflin remembers. “I stuck it all in my room, but then my room was way too overcrowded. I couldn’t move!”

It’s safe to say, these two must have April Fool’s Day on lock. (source)

USA TODAY – NEW YORK — To fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke is Daenerys Targaryen, a shrewd, dragon-wielding conqueror and one of TV’s fiercest heroines.

So when Me Before You director Thea Sharrock suggested she play Louisa Clark — a spunky, idealistic young woman who takes a job caring for a wealthy, wheelchair-bound quadriplegic (Sam Claflin) — screenwriter Jojo Moyes was understandably puzzled.

“I couldn’t see it,” says Moyes, who adapted her 2012 romantic novel for the big screen (in theaters Friday). “She was, for me, irrevocably linked to long, blond hair and dragons and looking very stern. But the moment you actually see her without the (Thrones) wig, she’s so warm and bubbly, and actually has the physical look of Louisa. It really took no time at all.”

Playing someone who shares her optimistic outlook and humor was part of the appeal to Clarke, who calls Louisa (nicknamed “Lou”) a “more innocent version” of herself.

Reading the book for the first time, “I was in love by page 3,” says Clarke, 29, teasing and laughing with her Me Before You co-star throughout an arduous day of interviews. “Lou felt like such a perfect extension of me. I just understood her, and it was that understanding that brought my excitement.”

USA TODAY – NEW YORK — Me Before You has something most weepy romances don’t: laughs.

Writing the film version of her 2012 novel, “it was important to keep the humor going as much as the sadder elements,” author Jojo Moyes says. The fun continued after the cameras stopped rolling, say stars Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke, who play a paralyzed man and his affable caretaker in the drama (in theaters Friday). Some of the charismatic duo’s funniest (and most painful) on-set stories:

HARPER’S BAZAAR UKGame of Thrones has made Emilia Clarke famous, yet thanks to the blonde wig she wears on the show, she’s preserved an ongoing level of anonymity. But roles as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Broadway, in the films Dom Hemingway with Jude Law and Terminator Genisys, and as the face of Dior’s Rose des Vents jewellery collection – in addition to growing tabloid interest – mean that privacy is disappearing fast. The trailer for Me Before You was released in February. Within two weeks, it had notched up over 60 million views. More than half the comments on her Instagram feed, she noted, were now about her as Louisa Clark [her character in Me Before You].

‘The joy of that wig is that I’ve had years to come to terms with where I’m at. It’s easier to handle because of it. You’re like, “OK, I feel comfortable, everyone’s nice. I’m not surrounded by paparazzi”,’ she says. (In fact, I register the exact moment the man at the counter realises who he’s been talking to. Five minutes after we sit down at our crate with our salads, a table is magically found.) Working on a film set can be notoriously tricky: everyone has stories of clashing egos, badly behaved stars (and, yes, writers). But even grizzled, veteran crew members observed what a happy production Me Before You was. Perhaps it was down to the director Thea Sharrock, who hails from theatre and is collaborative rather than dictatorial, but it was unquestionably helped by the fact that Clarke and Sam Claflin (Finnick from The Hunger Games; Alistair Ryle in The Riot Club), who plays the male lead Will Traynor, plainly loved working together. It was not unusual to see the two of them skidding around the set on Will’s electric wheelchair, or pranking each other in the trailers. For a weepie about a man who doesn’t want to live, there was an awful lot of laughter.
’These movies happen once in a blue moon. Lou has this quote, “This has been the best six months of my entire life.” That was true for me,’ Emilia says. ‘Our crew had such a giggle. Everyone just got on. Thea is an absolute dreamboat. She’s an actor’s director and, let me tell you, they are few and far between.’

MIRROR.CO.UK – Emilia Clarke is about to hit the big screen in tearjerking rom-com Me Before You.

We’re used to seeing the British actress controlling dragons, as heroine Daenerys Targaryen, so we’re delighted to see her in a different light.

She plays Lou Clarke, a girl who goes to work as a carer for Will Traynor, a paralysed rich boy, played by Sam Claflin, him off The Hunger Games.

Emilia, 29, tells us more about her character and how this film made an entire rugby team cry…

What made you want to be in this film?
It was so joyful and funny and I got to do all the things I always wanted to do. The director was like “Do it! More! More!” I’m like, “What? Yes! I get to really crack people up!” Everything I’m known for on-screen is so different from who I am but, with this, in between takes, I’d be no different.

Must have been tough working with the incredibly hot Sam Claflin…
Just dreamboat. I feel like on movie sets, leads either hate each other or love each other – and happily we were in the ‘love each other’ category. He’s a dude.

You’re all Hollywood these days. How was it filming in Blighty?
I got to sleep in my own bed! We filmed it in London – it was so dreamy. It’s been getting really weird – people were like, “I didn’t realise you were British!” What?! So I’ll be very happy when people realise I’m proper English.

Favourite rom-com?
When Harry Met Sally is the ultimate for me – I know it all off by heart. Anything with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in it: Sleepless In Seattle, You’ve Got Mail. Then Four Weddings And A Funeral. Notting Hill. They’re all shameless – proper stay at home on a Sunday with a box of Kleenex stuff.

And Me Before You is going to be up there…
I brought my best friend to see it, and she turned round, sobbing, and said, “You told me it was a rom-com!” Matt Lewis [who plays Patrick, Lou’s boyfriend] brought all of his rugby team with him, and he said, “Mate, you made 12 grown men cry!”

Are you romantic?
Er… yeah. I watched Cinderella the other day, because my Thrones mate Richard Madden is in it. And it’s really good, Disney movies are folk stories. We’re all just trying to find magic to elevate the mundane day-to-day life. Rom-coms make you feel like there’s hope.

ENQUIRER – In person, Emilia Clarke is radically different from her ruthless platinum blonde Daenerys in “Game of Thrones.” Sporting her natural shoulder-length brunette hair, Emilia is sweet, vivacious and laughs heartily. She often flashes her winning smile.

The London native conceded that Louisa “Lou” Clark, her caregiver character in the film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ acclaimed novel, “Me Before You,” is the most similar to her of all the roles she has played so far.
“I do more acting on ‘Game of Thrones’ than I did on this one,” she admitted, breaking into her boisterous laugh, which was like a ray of sunshine in this windowless basement meeting room of the Ritz Carlton Central Park Hotel.

Her thick eyebrows are as animated as they are in “Me Before You.” Those eyebrows have a life of their own and deserve billing credit, especially when they are used by Emilia to beseech Sam Claflin’s William “Will” Traynor, a paraplegic under the care of Lou.

In this love story, a romance blooms between Lou and Will. But he has decided to end his life by assisted suicide in six months; she tries her best to make him change his mind.

There’s one thing Emilia doesn’t have in common with Lou, who has a quirky fashion sense and loves bumblebee tights. “There’s a difference, but I love clothes as much as Lou does, that’s for sure,” said Emilia, who was fetching in a blue lace strap dress.
