And so we have come to the end of our epic run of Game of Thrones roundtable interviews. It seems fitting to finish with the person who arguably has the strongest right to the Iron Throne, exiled Princess Daenerys Targaryen.

Played with a mixture of innocence, grace and serious badassary by British newcomer Emilia Clarke, we can report that our beloved Khaleesi is something of a laugh in real life. Pretty much constantly laughing throughout, Clarke’s cheery demeanour has convinced us to join her Khalasar and help her seize the Iron Throne. Something tells us we should lay off the DVD box set for a week or two.

A FRUIT and veg stall at Bolton Market was transformed into a 1990s Manchester flower stall to film scenes for a new com- ing-of-age drama set in the city.

Spike Island, featuring Elliott Tittensor, of Shameless fame, and Emilia Clarke, who starred in Game of Thrones, is about a group of Stone Roses fans from Manchester, determined to see their heroes on stage. The film crew has been in Bolton all week recording scenes in back streets as well as driving around the town in a 1990s bus.

And yesterday they were at Bolton’s award- winning market.

Director Mat White- cross said: “So far, for us it has been brilliant. You wouldn’t think of a film set 20 years ago as a peri- od film, but it is. We have found some incredible locations around Bolton and Greater Manchester that match what we’re look- ing for. You never know what it will be like when a rel- atively large film crew turns up somewhere like this but the market has really taken us in.”

Close to 30,000 fans watched the legendary concert in Cheshire in May, 1990. The film fol- lows a group of young council estate hopefuls in an unsigned band and is written by actor Chris Coghill, who played Happy Mondays dancer Bez in 24 Hour Party Peo- ple.

The Spike Island con- cert came to be known as the “baggy Woodstock” and came as the Madch- ester scene was at its height.

The scenes shot at Bolton Market featured Elliott as one of the group of Stone Roses fans and Emilia as the object of his affections.

Spike Island has been jointly funded by the BBC, the British Film Institute, Bankside and the band Coldplay

You’re hair colour has changed (as Emilia is currently a brunette!)?

It’s a wig! It’s a wig in the show. (Laughs!)

And your brother?

Yes, that’s a wig too. Harry (Lloyd) is my very good friend in real life and he’s got the same hair colour as mine in real life. We do look like siblings anyway, when we’re both naturally brunettes!

How does it feel now that Game of Thrones is such a massive success?

My life is pretty much unrecognisable to what it was before. It’s incredible! Never in a million years did I think I’d be doing something like this now, this early on so fresh out of drama school. Even having Game of Thrones, I never knew that it would be the success that it was and hopefully will continue to be.

They [HBO] took a massive risk with me. I had a couple of auditions then a screen-test in LA and then they gave me the part it was as simple as that, there’s no huge story to tell.
