HARPER’S BAZAAR UK – In our exclusive video below, Emilia Clarke takes us behind the scenes on her July issue cover shoot, set on a beautiful sun-drenched California beach.
“It’s pretty dreamy,” she says of the shoot, which sees her showcasing a wardrobe that consists entirely of Dior Couture. “I think that’s the best way to describe it… dreamy and gorgeous.”

VARIETY – Emilia Clarke and Jay Duplass talked each other through the uncomfortable experience of filming sex scenes during a one-on-one interview for Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors” series. […] Things aren’t much easier for Clarke, who’s also had some challenging times on the set of “Game of Thrones.” Like Duplass, her first season took her on a wild ride.
“Season one of ‘Game of Thrones’ — like everything — I did it all,” said Clarke. “I got raped, I came out of the fire, I was butt naked. … I was pregnant and then lost it and then kind of gave birth to something else. So, season one was the most challenging out of everything. But the naked stuff is always difficult.” […]
Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke made an appearance on Good Morning America on May 23, 2016 to talk about their upcoming film “Me Before You”. The interview segment aired today on May 31, 2016. Big thanks to our partner site The Claflin Place for the video!
HARPER’S BAZAAR UK – Game of Thrones has made Emilia Clarke famous, yet thanks to the blonde wig she wears on the show, she’s preserved an ongoing level of anonymity. But roles as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Broadway, in the films Dom Hemingway with Jude Law and Terminator Genisys, and as the face of Dior’s Rose des Vents jewellery collection – in addition to growing tabloid interest – mean that privacy is disappearing fast. The trailer for Me Before You was released in February. Within two weeks, it had notched up over 60 million views. More than half the comments on her Instagram feed, she noted, were now about her as Louisa Clark [her character in Me Before You].
‘The joy of that wig is that I’ve had years to come to terms with where I’m at. It’s easier to handle because of it. You’re like, “OK, I feel comfortable, everyone’s nice. I’m not surrounded by paparazzi”,’ she says. (In fact, I register the exact moment the man at the counter realises who he’s been talking to. Five minutes after we sit down at our crate with our salads, a table is magically found.) Working on a film set can be notoriously tricky: everyone has stories of clashing egos, badly behaved stars (and, yes, writers). But even grizzled, veteran crew members observed what a happy production Me Before You was. Perhaps it was down to the director Thea Sharrock, who hails from theatre and is collaborative rather than dictatorial, but it was unquestionably helped by the fact that Clarke and Sam Claflin (Finnick from The Hunger Games; Alistair Ryle in The Riot Club), who plays the male lead Will Traynor, plainly loved working together. It was not unusual to see the two of them skidding around the set on Will’s electric wheelchair, or pranking each other in the trailers. For a weepie about a man who doesn’t want to live, there was an awful lot of laughter. ’These movies happen once in a blue moon. Lou has this quote, “This has been the best six months of my entire life.” That was true for me,’ Emilia says. ‘Our crew had such a giggle. Everyone just got on. Thea is an absolute dreamboat. She’s an actor’s director and, let me tell you, they are few and far between.’
EXTRA – “Extra’s” AJ Calloway caught up with Emilia Clarke to get the scoop on “Game of Thrones” and her new movie “Me Before You.”
As the drama unfolds on “Thrones,” many fans have been left wondering if Emilia’s character Daenerys might be teaming up with Kit Harington’s Jon Snow.
When AJ asked about the possible partnership and if Jon might possess some of the same powers as Dany, Emilia insisted, “They don’t tell us anything,” before joking, Jon has the “power of the six-pack! That much, we know.”
Of course, she’s referring to a naked Snow lying dead on a slab earlier this season.
Then there is her heartbreaking new romantic movie “Me Before You,” which will surely leave viewers in tears. Emilia plays a cheerful caregiver who falls in love with a paralyzed man.
She told AJ she could relate to her character as soon as she read the script. “As soon as I read the first couple of pages, I was certain I knew this character so well because I feel so much like she’s kind of a part of me… she’s like a goofball and says things that don’t make sense, really, and is kind of klutzy.”
“Me Before You” opens in theaters June 3rd. (source)
